This article describes how to use Outlook 2003 when connecting to your email via POP3.

  1. Right click on the Outlook 2003 ICON located on your desktop.
  2. Click "Properties".
  3. In the "Mail Setup" window, click on the "E-mail Accounts" button.
  4. The Email Accounts Wizard will then start, at this point select "Add A New Email Account" then click "Next".
  5. When prompted for a server type, select "POP3" then click "Next".
  6. The Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) window will now appear. Fillout the information as provided to you by your cPanel admin.
    1. Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear on messages you send.
    2. E-mail Address: Your email address assigned to you by your cPanel admin.
    3. User Name: Enter your complete email address, this is your username. (ex: jdoe@mydomain.com)
    4. Password: Type the password that was assigned to you by your cPanel admin.
    5. Incoming mail server (POP3): Type your incoming email server. This will normally be mail.mydomain.com where "mydomain.com" is your domain name.
    6. Outgoing mail server (SMTP): This is the same as your incoming email server.
    7. YOU MUST ALSO DO THE FOLLOWING. Most cable and DSL providers block port 25, which is used to sending email. This is done in an effort to prevent SPAM. To work around this issue, you must change the outgoing port number from port 25 to port 27. This can be done by:
      1. Click "More Settings ..."
      2. Click on the "Advanced" tab.
      3. Change the number "25" next to (SMTP) to "27" and click "OK"
    8. Click Next. (If you desire Click "Test Account Settings..." to verify that all settings are working and are correct.)
  7. Congratulations! You have just finished setting up your POP3 email account.
